Meet Caroline Taylor, Illustrator & Print Designer
– Posted by Helen
Meet Caroline Taylor, Madderson's hugely talented in-house print designer. Caroline has been with us from the beginning of our journey, helping to design graphic prints used in our early earliest collections in 2013. Since then, Caroline has become an integral part of our team, contributing to our product development process and overall creative direction with an instinctive flair for colour, shape, pattern and texture.
Caroline's designs combine hand and digital techniques, with each print being hand sketched using pen & ink before adding colour digitally. Her expertise lies not only in creating unique graphic prints, such as our iconic chevron and chain prints, but also more intricate designs which explore the beauty of the natural world. British flora and fauna are a major source of inspiration for Caroline, having grown up in the rugged Welsh countryside, and is a unifying thread running through her portfolio. Caroline's botanical prints have featured in several Madderson collections to date, depicting everything from hydrangeas to acanthus and from peonies to dragonflies. She cleverly amplifies her subjects through irregular scale and offbeat colour combinations, resulting in bold, engaging artworks.
Most recently, Caroline has been expanding into interiors and indulging her 'new obsession', calligraphy. For an artist, discovering new mediums brings greater depth to their art and we couldn't be more excited for Caroline as her work develops. Her new 'IllustratedGiftStore' on Etsy is a wonderful place to find a few of her gems - cushions, prints & pottery - as well as limited edition prints available from her own website www.carolineelizabethtaylor.com.
