Blogger Jess Clark of Mumzynot shares her red carpet look as part of our ‘AW13 Style Diary’ series…
Last weekend I attended a black tie event at Chelsea’s Hurlingham Club. Dressing for such occasions can be pretty stressful with a seven month baby bump, lets face it you don’t feel your best. I certainly don’t anyway, and in all honesty the last thing I wanted to do was go to a black tie dinner. What was I going to wear? Thankfully my partnership with Madderson London came into play, and brings me to the second look for my style diary. They have just the dress for red carpet glamour.
The Juno dress, the Madderson ‘show stopper’. A silk printed style-statement, with exquisite pearl button detail and delicate tie waist. A maternity dress with no reason to suggest that it should be. This btw is what maternity wear should be all about, take note said brands that still don’t get it. As soon as I slipped it on I felt honestly quite beautiful and even a little bit sexy thanks to that subtle, yet low-cut, neckline. Paired with some stunning accessories (Jimmy Choo and Jenny Packham) a mannish overcoat and some back-up flats in the car, I was really excited to show the dress, and my bump off.
Throughout the evening I got many an ‘admiring’ glance. Granted I was the only pregnant woman in the room which was probably something to cause a double take… but I like to think for the most part it was because together (me and the dress), looked fabulous. Everyone else seemed to be wearing the standard black - black-tie obviously means a black dress then? So it was nice to be able to showcase something extra special, as could you. If you are reading this, pregnant (or not) and looking for a chic statement piece for that upcoming event, Juno may just be the one? For me it was, and I will definitely be wearing again.
