AW13 Style Diary Look #3: Classic

Author of chic mummy blog Mumzynot, Jess is back for the new year with her take on how to style our timeless classic, the Camilla dress…

Look #3 for my Madderson London style diary features the Camilla shift dress. A chic everyday style statement that is just as stunning after dark.

I have been wearing this look a lot over the festive period, it’s just so comfortable and effortless. At 30 weeks, ‘effortless’ when getting dressed is mandatory. Made from luxurious double-knit Italian jersey, with exquisite gold trim detailing, the Camilla shift is more than just your regular maternity LBD. It’s also surprisingly warm so perfect for these cold days we have been having. As with all ML pieces this is a style that adapts with a growing bump, resulting in a wardrobe staple that will definitely remain post baby. It looks just as fabulous with or without that baby-belly.

For lunch with the girls or meetings in town I like to pair with a favorite knee high boot and my Stefanel trench tied at the waist (Suede flats by Lori Blu are my current go-to.)  This dress would look just as good with any number of overcoat, or even a simple black blazer if you are feeling a more corporate vibe. As you know however I don’t like to look too polished.

For evening dress-up a pointed pump is perfect, with or without tights. Or a statement flat. Something like my new Valentino rockstuds! A Christmas treat to myself (Thank you Granny, Christmas money well spent.) You might have guessed I am slightly obsessed with the point right now, but a cute slipper or peep toe would work just as well, even something leopard.

This is one dress many ways. I have yet to dress it up with jewels but am planning something glamorous for the next outing. Imagine with a delicate Alex Monroe chain or some fabulous Monica Vinader gems. Divine.

P.S Madderson London currently have 50% off their entire collection. So if that doesn’t tempt you in, nothing will. And wait until you see their ready-to-wear. The launch party is at the end of this month and I’m extremely excited.

Love,
Jess x
