Now the weather is warming up, it’s time to commit to some hard-working maternity staples that will see you through Spring and into Summer. I’ve just entered my third trimester with baby number 3 and there’s no room (literally!) for getting away with anything other than well made maternity clothes that fit and flatter my growing bump.
And so here I’ve picked out my 3 signature looks for this pregnancy: weekend wear, work wear and evening wear. Obviously the centrepiece for each look is a timeless maternity classic from Madderson London with on-trend accessories that will be wardrobe favourites long after the birth.
First, my go-to weekend or daywear outfit – the Saturday dress. Sure I live in Hong Kong where the weather is typically balmier than the UK, however, I see this dress as trans-seasonal – simply throw on a cute jacket and flats for cooler climes or wear with flip flops on a warm day. I can’t tell you how many compliments I get wearing this dress and it beats the often uncomfortable waistband or unsightly ridges across your bump caused by maternity jeans or leggings. The smooth lines, flattering ruching and simple cut could not be more forgiving. Navy is perfect for Spring too. Add a colourful tote and a statement necklace and St.Tropez beckons…I just wish I’d had this gem for my previous two pregnancies.
Second, my workwear saviour – the Coco dress. Supremely slimming thanks to clever tailoring, the Coco has been a favourite of mine since it appeared in our debut collection for A/W ’12. This pregnancy, I’m taking full advantage of having a Coco dress to see me through pretty much any smart function or important meeting. Available in black and navy, this dress makes you feel unbelievably chic which is no mean feat at 6 months pregnant. Team it with a pair new season spotty heels (how fun are these?) and the stunning new San Diego bag from Milli Millu and you’re good to go.
Third, my go-to evening wear top – the Charlotte. Wear it with white or indigo skinny jeans and add a pair of Spring heels and you will look (and feel) a million dollars! This look is so feminine, I love it! So easy to pull together, this look is relaxed enough for evening cocktails or dinner with friends but the striking bright pink print means you won’t fade into the background. This is a tried and tested look for me (for Winter I lived in the leather leggings/Charlotte top combo) and I can see me wearing this through the Summer once baby is born.
